images that are not public domain are the property of their respective owners, used here under fair use and with intense adoration. background is Van Gogh's Wheat Field with Crows.
this is a collage by Philip Carey, whose strange art i absolutely adore. his work is like junk journaling writ large and haute, and i love it.
this is Binah by Peter Mohrbacher.
i've been following the angelarium for years because Mohrbacher's work absolutely enraptures me. i own the card version of this piece as part of the Oracle of Emanations but i want to get my hands on his newer decks as soon as i can.
Binah is my favorite of the emanations - something about the pose and serene expression.
this is Fatality by Jan Toorop in 1893.
egyptian vibes, apocalyptic feel, tortured trees in the background. i want to read the grimdark fantasy novel that this conjures up. what rite is this? a burial? are those grave pits? the floating woman whose skirt? spirit? enwrap the black-robed figure is pushed away almost contemptuously - who is she?
i can't find much information or interpretation for this piece. it's not even shown on Toorop's wiki page.
Joshua Barkman (aka FalseKnees) is my favorite comic artist. the bird obsession resonates with me very, very deeply, and he often features my favorite bird, the white-throated sparrow.
this is Summer by Alphons Mucha in 1896 - part of his Seasons series.
i have no words for how much i love her. she reminds me of a very dear friend.
Hondenkop by Julie de Graag in 1920.
i love a historical lady with insane talent and a tragic story. her prints are sharp and arresting and i love the way she depicts animals.
